Circular opaline zigzag wall lights

Once illuminating the hallways of a hotel in former Czechoslovakia, these 1970s retro wall lights witnessed the twilight years and downfall of communism. The zigzagged moulded design to the opaline glass creates a warm patterned effect when illuminated. Surface mounted and suitable as both a wall or ceiling fitting, they add drama in areas such as hallways, restaurants and bars.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each vintage piece we salvage.
