Vintage Hungarian hospital floor light

A restored 1960s medical floor light salvaged from a Hungarian Hospital. Comprising a brushed and lacquered steel telescopic stand with a three-legged base and original castors, the lamp head - with its polished aluminium body and linear prismatic glass lens - can be angled and adjusted by hand to provide illumination where desired.

We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. We have three guiding principles: To salvage the best lighting from the 1920s to the 1970s; To restore every piece sensitively - without compromising its character; To restore each fixture to the highest modern standards.
