1950s Hungarian inspection wall lights

Starting their story as inspection lights in Budapest in the 1950s, these angled pendant lights have been carefully converted for use as wall lights. Original compact enamelled shades feature varying worn manufacturer’s marks, connecting to a powder coated swan neck wall bracket. Restored and ready for their next chapter in bars, restaurants and shops, perfect for illuminating walls and signs.

Origin: Hungary

We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Lit by skinflint

These wall lights were used in the Paramount series A Gentleman in Moscow, where Count Alexander Rostov is forced to live out his days at the Hotel Metropol. Situated outside the front of the hospital, these industrial shades complement the dishevelled exterior of the building. Read more about our feature on the projects page.
