Retro Czech bubble glass pendant lights (V2)

Born in 1970s former Czechoslovakia and once adorning a hotel reception in Prague, these vintage pendants are retro through and through. Featuring a hand-blown glass globe with bubble detailing that's true to the era and origin. Creating a golden effect when illuminated, an element of downlighting is also produced from the open-bottomed design. Complete with a polished brass gallery, they make a statement in hallways, lounges, lobbies and other circulation areas. A closed-bottomed variation is also available.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. We have three guiding principles: To salvage the best lighting from the 1920s to the 1970s; To restore every piece sensitively - without compromising its character; To restore each fixture to the highest modern standards. Every light we reclaim has two tales to tell - its original use, and how it came to be salvaged. We’ll let you know its history but the next chapter is up to you.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, 2 mtrs of traditional old gold twisted cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.
