Born from the nostalgia of the 1970s Art Deco revival, this etched glass pendant once illuminated hotel lobbies in Brno, former Czechoslovakia. Four prismatic shades surround a chrome-plated steel enclosure with decorative venting detail in the gallery. The open-bottomed enclosure provides downlighting whilst the etched prismatic glass casts a dispersed light when illuminated. Perfect for bringing glamour into circulation areas.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each vintage piece we salvage. Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension wire, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.
