1970s cut glass ceiling lights

Era: 1970s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

These retro ceiling lights started their story in the 1970s in Prague, former Czechoslovakia. All original components remain preserved, including a main enclosure with its black paint finish and a cut-glass lens, creating enhanced illumination when lit. Great used in multiples to illuminate restaurants, offices and counters, or solo in smaller spaces. A rodded pendant version is also available.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each vintage piece we salvage.
