Vintage German railway floor lights

Vintage German railway signal light mounted to a salvaged medical stand. The light was retrieved from defunct signalling equipment at a station outside of Berlin, Germany.

Origin: Germany

German designs are famed for their clean lined and well engineered approach. The Bauhaus School played a major role in combining design with engineering during the late 1920s and early 1930s. A number of lights we salvage were influenced by Bauhaus School design. From the mid to late 20th century, Communist East Germany produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications, often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Restoration

Each component of the light has been patiently and sensitively restored. The aluminium enclosure has been soda-blasted and then hand polished, the original glass lens cleaned and a new support bracket manufactured, which allows the light to be angled on the stand. The three-legged medical stand, made from steel, has been brushed and lacquered to seal the surface and prevent oxidisation.

Each light is supplied tested and rewired with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, three metres Elephant Grey braided cable, foot switch and plug.
