Moulded Czech glass pendant lights (V3)

Part of a large haul of small glass pendants in varying styles, salvaged from a civic building in Prague. A real feature piece suspended singularly or as part of a wider display, the open-bottomed glass shade has prismatic detailing to the inner, and a retro moulded jeweled design to the outer.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Over the years, we’ve restored thousands of lights that would otherwise have been lost forever - examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time. But we don’t only piece together the light’s components. We take the time to investigate its history, studying old catalogues for clues to assemble the whole story.
