Starting life in the renowned glassmaking region of Bohemia in former Czechoslovakia, these 1960s vintage pendants were produced by the famed glassworks Lustry Kamenicky Senov. Salvaged from a private apartment in Ostrava, the glass shade features prismatic detailing to the inner and a geometric moulded design to the outer, producing a striking effect when illuminated. Suspend singularly, in rows or clusters to create a feature in dining rooms, bars and restaurants.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Over the years, we’ve rescued and restored thousands of lights that would otherwise may have ended up in landfill - examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time. But we don’t only piece together the light’s components. We take the time to investigate its history, studying old catalogues for clues and assembling the whole story.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of brass braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.

Following WWII, all chandelier companies based in the Kamenicky Senov region of former Czechoslovakia (an area with a rich history of decorative glasswork) were put under joint administration by the state under a new name - Lustry Kamenicky Senov. In the 1960s, this new company primarily specialised in producing glass lighting and chandeliers for domestic use and the USSR. Though they later expanded into pendants and floor lights, their most iconic creation was the elegant crystal glass chandeliers known as the ‘Theresians’, which were inspired by 18th-century Bohemian chandeliers made for Empress Maria Theresa.
