An original two arm 1930's machinists light by British manufacturer 'E.D.L'. The maker's label is still intact on the shade, along with slight wear to the original green finish, both of which add character and emphasise the age of the light.
Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.
As it was originally designed as a work light, the lamp is designed to be fully articulated at the shade and arm joints, with 180deg rotation at the wall plate/base. The lamp is suitable for different applications, by simply rotating the rear wall plate on installation, the light can be used as either a wall, ceiling or table mounted work light. The installation card image is from our own internal manufacturer's archive and would have been supplied with the products when the product was originally retailed.

Manufacturer: E.D.L
Established in 1922 in Staffordshire as a lighting and cable support manufacturer, EDL Lighting is one of the few companies we salvage lighting from still in operation today. Rightly well known for their beautifully engineered task and machinist lights, we have been privileged to salvage many fine examples; lights that have in most cases, outlasted the buildings for which they were originally designed.

"Genius Full Circle initative"
Love the lights, love your ethos. Absolutely what more companies need to be doing. I have my Retro Czech Ceiling Lights (V2) in my dining room and the spray of light they give off is gorgeous and unusual.
