Retro pendant lights from the 1970s salvaged from former Czechoslovakia. With an elegant profile, the opaline glass produces a warm glow when illuminated and casts an element of downlighting from its open-bottomed design. Fantastic feature lights within circulation, living or kitchen areas.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Over the years, we’ve restored thousands of lights that would otherwise have been lost forever - meticulously examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time. But we don’t only piece together the light’s components. We also take the time to investigate its history, studying our archive of old manufacturer’s catalogues for clues to assemble the whole story.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, traditional silver braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. (If you would prefer another colour cable, wire suspension or an E26 lamp holder for use in the USA, please just ask).
