Simple and stylish retro ceiling lights salvaged from former Czechoslovakia. With the original red painted finish retained to the aluminium top enclosure and a cut glass prismatic shade, these make striking feature pendants, complete with the original ceiling rose.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. We have three guiding principles: To salvage the best lighting from the 1920s to the 1970s; To restore every piece sensitively - without compromising its character; To restore each fixture to the highest modern standards. Every light we reclaim has two tales to tell - its original use, and how it came to be salvaged. We’ll let you know its history but the next chapter is up to you.

Each light is supplied tested and rewired with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of elephant grey braided cable, suspension wire and a ceiling mounting kit.
