1930s Czechoslovakian opaline chandelier

Salvaged from a Czechoslovakian residential interior, this early 1930s ceiling light features a three-armed chrome-plated central baluster with three adjoining hand-blown white opaline glass globes. A decorative chandelier and an example of elegant Czech lighting.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

This Czech chandelier has been meticulously restored by our workshop ready for modern-day use. The restoration process our lighting goes through can take many months. First, we gently disassemble each light fitting allowing us to spot any flaws and plan how best to bring it up to modern electrical standards. Then, our team of experts patiently restore each component by hand.

The light is supplied rewired and tested with 3no. new screw (E27) lamp holders. If you require E26 for use in the USA please let us know.
