Vintage industrial shop lighting at Knoops
Knoops, pronounced Kuh-noops, are the chocolate experts that everyone’s talking about. From humble beginnings in Rye, East Sussex, to a stronghold of over 17 stores across London, Cambridge and Oxford, founder Jens and his team have put artisan hot chocolate firmly back on the map.
But it’s not just the array of 22 hot chocolate options that have us excited by the team’s growing venture; our rows of Salvaged Eastern Bloc lights have become a recognisable brand feature in their store windows, bringing their chocolatey aesthetic to life. Talking to interior designer Lara Gosling, she explains the team wanted to create an environment that felt like chocolate itself, but without being too obvious.
Sustainability was also far from an afterthought, says Lara. skinflint is one of many B Corp suppliers that the design team worked with to bring hot chocolate to the many. Alongside our sustainably salvaged vintage lights are counters and shelving made from Durat, a solid surface mounted material made from post-industrial waste. And menu panelling is made from Eco-Board, an alternative to chipboard, created from agricultural waste with a negative carbon footprint.
If visiting, enjoy the full Knoopology experience. Start with your favourite chocolate percentage, choose a milk, and add spices like ginger and chilli. And don’t forget to sip under skinflint vintage lights for 10/10 flavour and experience…
