A vintage medical floor lamp salvaged from a Czechoslovakian hospital. Originally designed for UV light therapy use in both hospitals and homes, the light has now been refurbished into a stunning feature piece with an adjustable arm perfectly suited for task lighting.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Wherever possible we retain the original finish of a light as part of its unique history and heritage. However, sometimes leaving a surface as we find it just isn’t possible. Here, the original paint finish on the shade and handle contrast nicely with the polished aluminum arms and chrome plated base.

The light is supplied rewired and tested with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2 metres of elephant grey braided cable. inline switch and a plug.
