US paratrooper pendants (V1)

A substantial run of salvaged American paratrooper pendants used by the US Army in 1943 during WWII. The enamel shades have been sensitively refurbished, retaining the slight wear and surface patina.

As featured in the Paramount TV series 'Catch-22'.

Unlike the communist Eastern Bloc countries, lighting design in mid-century U.S.A. benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time designing and producing similar products for the same market, often with only slight differences in their style. Due to the location we rarely have the opportunity to reclaim and restore light fixtures from the U.S.A., but some of our perennial favourites are the old signal lights that adorned the highways of the midwest. We reconfigure and restore these timeless classics into functional pendant lights, for both residential and commercial use.

Restoration

The lights were once a component part of the electrical lighting chests which were flown in and dropped to troops on the ground. The chests provided everything they needed to set up the lights in a temporary camp including lampholders, switches, fuses, lamps, tape and shades.

Our lights on the big screen

Did you know that our vintage lights regularly star in feature films such as Mission Impossible and hit TV series such as Warner Bros’ Pennyworth?
