Vintage floor standing Alusig traffic light

These floorlights started their life in 1950s America. Converted from an original US 'Eagle' Alusig traffic light, now sensitively restored and mounted to a wooden surveyor's tripod. Featuring a polished aluminium enclosure with authentic cast manufacturer's marks, hood and bracket, and fitted with a prismatic glass screen. Ideal task lighting in lounges, lobbies, bedrooms and studies.

Unlike the communist Eastern Bloc countries, lighting design in mid-century U.S.A. benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time designing and producing similar products for the same market, often with only slight differences in their style. Due to the location we rarely have the opportunity to reclaim and restore light fixtures from the U.S.A., but some of our perennial favourites are the old signal lights that adorned the highways of the midwest. We reconfigure and restore these timeless classics into functional pendant lights, for both residential and commercial use.

Restoration

The light is mounted to a new polished aluminium bracket on the original instrument mounting plate, atop a waxed oak tripod. The bracket allows the light to be angled, while the tripod height can be adjusted.

The light is supplied tested and rewired with 3mtrs of black braided cable, a new bayonet (B22) lamp holder, foot switch and plug.
