Retro Czech wall lighting (golden V2)

Era: 1960s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Surface-mounted lights originally manufactured in 1960s former Czechoslovakia. Salvaged and sensitively restored, they comprise a removable Bakelite base with conduit detailing, and a moulded glass shade in a golden tint, producing a striking colour and patterned effect when illuminated. Suitable for use on both the wall and ceiling as an accent light.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece.
