Industrial Czech opaline pendants (V2)

These unusual pendants began life in former Czechoslovakia in the 1950s, illuminating factory floors. A hand blown glass opaline ensures a soft and diffused glow of illumination when lit, contrasting against the industrial aesthetic of the upper gallery. Each one features an original paint finish with a worn patina and varied manufacturer’s markings, reminiscent of the era. Great for shops, bars and restaurants.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Every one of our lights goes through a variety of processes to bring it from the worn and often dilapidated state it arrives in, to a stage where it is ready for your project. The first and most important stage is fully dismantling each and every light - we do this even if we have hundreds of identical lights. We then undertake an in-depth review of its construction and following that, map its journey through restoration.

Each light is supplied new screw (E27) lamp holders, 2mtrs of industrial black steel suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.
