Elegant 1950s rodded glass lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Unique and contemporary-styled 1950s ceiling lights salvaged from former Czechoslovakia. Sensitively restored, the lights retain their original prismatic glass and contrasting brushed-brass and black aluminium support bars. Suspended on a new fixed suspension rod for stable application, the glass enhances the even distribution of light when illuminated.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

The restoration process our vintage lighting goes through can take many months. First, we gently disassemble each light fitting allowing us to spot any flaws and plan how best to bring it up to modern electrical standards. Our team of experts then patiently restore each individual component by hand, piecing back together the pieces to ensure it lives on for decades more to come.
