1950s Eastern Bloc enamelled oxidised pendants

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Beginning life in the nationalised factories of 1950s former Czechoslovakia, these industrial pendants were salvaged from an agricultural facility in the country’s Northwest. In line with their heritage and age, careful restoration has retained a storied patina to the black enamelled shade and original manufacturer’s markings on the glass wells. With slight variation between each characterful oxidised gallery, these are ideal statement pieces for restaurants and bars. A caged version is available here.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Wherever possible we retain the original finish of a light in respect to its authentic history and heritage. However, sometimes leaving a particular component as we find it just isn’t possible! The degraded surface on the galleries of these pendants have been restored in our workshops through the process of oxidation. The result is an interesting array of rich surface patinas - and a characterful finish to your light.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, 2 mtrs of elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.
