1950s Czechoslovakian dental lamp

An unusual converted dental lamp by 'Chirana' a Czechoslovakian manufacturer. The light has a two-part, polished aluminium, 'eye-ball' reflector and bracket. The reflector can be angled and allows the ability to control the light output by opening/closing the shades.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

There is full rotation of the reflector and height adjustment, with an ingeniously hidden counterweight detail to allow the shade to be raised and lowered on the aluminium stem (just twist the black handle to release and lock at the desired height). Refurbished by hand with a brushed and lacquered steel base, mounted on polished aluminium legs with original castors.

Supplied tested and rewired with three metres of elephant grey braided cable, a new bayonet (B22) lamp holder, inline switch and plug.
