Located in King’s Cross’ last remaining heritage building just behind Granary Square, the opening of Lina Stores new restaurant and delicatessen marks 75 years since the original deli opened in Soho’s Brewer Street. The interior, designed by clients Red Deer, is an evolution of the London institution and features retro Czechoslovakian pendant lighting by us at skinflint seen here above the bar.

The scheme draws from the timeless and authentic Art Deco style of the brand, from the pastel-green and white striped awnings and the curved counter fronts, to the mixed chrome, wood and glass light fittings. Exposed brick walls and paint-washed plasterwork lend a rustic appearance in a nod to the heritage of the brand.

Speaking to architectural and design magazine Dezeen after completing Lina Store’s first expansion of the deli on Soho’s Greek Street, Red Deer co-founder Lionel Real de Azúa said: "We tried to extrapolate in material terms what the brand was made up of, and that was obviously the green and white stripes.”

"We also played around with the application of that material palette so that a lot of the same visual cues were there but the overall experience is somewhat different. We didn't want to be too pastiche-y but to allow that palette to almost sink into the texture so that you have the duality of the signature colours and of the textured walls."

Salvaged from former Czechoslovakia, these particular cross-cut diamond glass vintage light fittings feature a new spun aluminium gallery and a fixed suspension for a streamlined aesthetic and stable application. They provide a stunning patterned effect and warm glow when illuminated, creating a relaxed and cosy ambience for customers enjoying this back booth area.
