Industrial Czech pendant lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

These industrial Eastern Bloc pendant lights were salvaged from industrial areas in former Czechoslovakia. Featuring a vitreous enameled reflector, glass well and a brushed and lacquered steel bezel, with the original manufacturer's detailing on the Bakelite gallery. Ideal in rows above kitchen islands and dining tables.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

You might have spotted these lights in the series A Gentleman in Moscow, where Count Alexander Rostov is forced to live out his days at the Hotel Metropol. In the cellar of the hotel, these industrial style lights lend themselves to the overall underground design of the set. You can read more about our feature over on our projects page.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour, please just ask.
