Very early silver-backed glass pendants by British manufacturer GEC entitled the 'GECoRAY'. Originally produced as part of a range of superior quality reflectors, and now sensitively restored with their original impressed manufactures gallery and label 'GECoRAY: Made in England'.

Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

These very early 1920s lights were originally designed for use in high-end retail shop window displays, designed with care and made to last. We also strive to respect and preserve the heritage of the lights we restore. The original catalogue image, from our own internal archive, features these lights and others in the range by G.E.C.

Each light is supplied with a new bayonet (B22) lamp holder, 2mtrs of traditional twisted silver braided cable and ceiling mounting plate.
