Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

Vintage lights may sound delicate in nature. But in the mid-20th Century, lights were manufactured with care and designed to last. Prominent manufacturer’s markings help us identify each light’s accurate origin and era so that each little piece of history can be preserved through sensitive restoration techniques.

Each light is supplied tested and rewired with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2.5mtrs elephant grey braided cable, inline switch and plug. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.

This table lamp began life in 1960s Britain as a prescription heat lamp. With a striking stepped base and handle feature, this light can be angled to offer directional illumination. Once used for treating aches and sprains using infrared, and sold with goggles to protect your eyes, this light has been carefully restored and converted for use as a table light. Perfect for task lighting, bedrooms, and lounges. Goggles not included!
