1950s medical floor light

A fully refurbished and restored 1950s British medical floor light, once used for light therapy treatment to aid health ailments. Comprising a polished spun aluminium shade with a chrome plated arm, and a two-part chrome and brass plated stem mounted to a lacquered steel base with castors. The light can be extended, rotated and locked in its desired position. Perfect for task lighting.

Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

Before a light can be restored, any damaged and outdated components are repaired and replaced. As part of this work we switch original imperial screws with their modern-day metric counterparts and rework their screw ports to fit them. We also update the original electrics with brand new, fully certified EN60598 components - giving peace of mind that your vintage light is as safe to use as any modern light.

The light is supplied tested and rewired with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 3 meters Elephant Grey braided cable, inline foot switch and a plug.
