1950s Eastern Bloc machinists lights (V2)

Born in 1950s former Czechoslovakia, these wall lights were salvaged from factories and industrial sites across the country. Once used for illuminating machinery and workbenches, the shades boast their original patina and can be fully rotated, whilst the steel arms have lockable lateral adjustments. Now carefully restored for use in offices, bedrooms, and task lighting.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Where possible, we always retain the original finish of a light, to celebrate and respect its history and heritage. That’s exactly the case with these machinists lights; each one features its original paintwork and a patina that tells a story of its original use. It still means we restore and replace any damaged and outdated components, ensuring the original electrics are replaced with brand new, fully certified EN60598 components.
