1920s Art Deco ribbed opaline pendant

This one-off Art Deco pendant was originally manufactured over a century ago in 1920s Czechoslovakia. Retaining all original components, its ribbed opaline glass creates a soft and even glow of illumination when lit, contrasting against a chrome plated fixed stem. A great feature light for dining rooms, lounges and lobbies in both commercial and private interiors.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Over the years, we’ve restored thousands of lights that would otherwise have been lost forever - examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time.
