1920s Art Deco decorative chandelier

Beginning life in former Czechoslovakia at the peak of the roaring twenties, this one-off opaline chandelier was salvaged from a hotel lobby in Plzeň. Art Deco through and through, four opaline globes are mounted on curved chrome-plated arms, casting a soft, even glow when illuminated. Featuring a decorative central metal baluster for a dramatic silhouette. Perfect for making a statement in entrances.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Most modern bulbs, particularly environmentally friendly LED bulbs, are smaller than those vintage lights were originally designed to take. Our workshop and restoration team redesign and adjust the positioning of the new lamp holder to give you a light that illuminates your space, perfectly.
