Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

This chandelier is a 1920s original from the Art Deco era. Art Deco took its design inspiration largely from the Machine Age. In the difficult years after WW1 artists and designers found inspiration and positivity in the new and exciting era of the jet engine, which promised a more positive future and is to be found reflected in the elegant lines and modern materials of the lights in this collection.

The light is supplied rewired and tested with a new screw (E27) lamp holder. If you require E26 for use in the USA please let us know.
