Salvaged R.A.F wall lights

Era: 1960s

Salvaged airfield lights that were originally installed at an R.A.F base in Northwest Wales where they once illuminated the runway. Sensitively restored retaining the original painted surface and original glass wells, the lights have been refurbished and mounted to a new swan neck bracket.

Restoration

Once a light has undergone preparatory treatment and the degraded surface has been removed, the path is clear for us to bring it back to life. At skinflint we tend not to repaint surfaces, this would make the lights look too ‘new’ and they’d lose some of their individuality. The original surface has been waxed and sealed to prevent further ageing, highlight the heritage and age of the lights.
