Russian Army field lights salvaged from decommissioned stock in Lithuania. Each light comprises the original brushed steel shade and bakelite gallery featuring the manufacturer's detailing and cast marks.

Many of the products we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc were produced in the former U.S.S.R. and are defined by a clean industrial aesthetic. As with other Communist countries, the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. Lights from this region are often defined by their distinctive light green, two-tone colourways.

Restoration

Different materials require different processes. At skinflint we are fascinated by interesting surfaces and patinas, that’s why we tend not to repaint our lights as this can make them look too ‘new’ and they lose some of their of individuality. During restoration non-ferrous metals such as aluminium are often sealed using crystalline waxes, or occasionally left raw so the surface can develop an interesting lustre over time.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of black cable and ceiling mounting plate. (If you would prefer another colour cable, or an E26 lamp holder for use in the USA, please just ask).
