1960s circular ceiling lights

Era: 1960s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Salvaged from a derelict glassworks factory in former Czechoslovakia, these 1960s ceiling lights were manufactured by the powers of the Eastern Bloc and abandoned with the fall of the Berlin Wall. An opaline shade provides an even glow of illumination when lit, contrasting against a black aluminium wall plate. Great for ambient lighting in lounges, bedrooms and kitchens.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

The final step of the restoration process of each light is reassembly. All of the components, both new and refurbished, are meticulously pieced together in our workshops. Each light is then photographed and added to our collection alongside information about its origins and history discovered through our research. This ensures every light we reclaim lives on to tell its tale: from its original use, to how it came to be salvaged and restored. The next part of the story is up to you.
