Tortue Hotel, Hamburg
Introducing a new name in the boutique hotel scene - Tortue, featuring our antique copper wall lights. The design-led hotel is the jewel in the crown of a new luxury urban quarter in Hamburg’s Stadthöfe, a ten-year project in the making developed and completed in 2018 by Quantum.
At once modern and comfortable, the vision for the hotel was for a unique and incomparable place in Hamburg; individual, historic and a place for Hamburg’s elite.
The hotel's 126-rooms and two restaurants ooze international flare that is both cosy and modern. Kate Hume, known for her work designing the model apartments in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie concert hall, was chosen as the interior designer for the hotel’s rooms, lobby and brasserie.
A space typical of Kate’s signature eclectic yet elegant style, the brasserie features skinflint’s antique 1920s copper GECoRay wall lights. The lights, which were salvaged from a church in Surrey, UK, before being refurbished and restored by the skinflint team, play a pivotal role in setting the ambiance of the simple yet luxurious dining area - the copper galleries complementing Art Deco copper detailing elsewhere in the interior.
