Locke Hotels’ latest venture designed by Grzywinski+Pons is steps away from London's St Paul’s Cathedral and just across the Millenium Bridge from Tate Modern. The 113 room hotel, bar, restaurant, lounge and co-working space, was a challenging adaptive reuse project of an existing seven-story office building. The design is inspired by the unique site location as well as the existing building and features a couple of our restored industrial pendant lights.

The social space on the ground floor connects London’s hard edge with the serenity of the Thames. The design reflects this duality, with the raw bones of the building revealed and added to in the form of perforated stainless steel panels, chain mail curtains and champagne steel framing. Some of the furnishings and fixtures follow this materiality, while others are texturally lush, warm and inviting - natural fabrics, timber, jute, rattan, creamy terrazzo and limestone surrounded by succulents and ferns.

It is in this social space that two of our polished aluminium industrial pendant lights have been installed. The pendants, which were salvaged from Poland and sensitively restored by our team, show intricately detailed enclosures, cast maker’s marks and original caged glass wells in testament to their original use, and work to perfectly complement the other metallic details within the space.
